Sensex up by 33 pts in the opening move
Mumbai, Aug 29: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) today opened 33 points in the green at 11,651.96 as the smallcap and the midcap gained prominence amongst the stocks and were ably assitsted by the Consumer Durables and the Capital Goods scrips, as the buying intensified in the opening move.
The midcap was up by 0.82 per cent and the smallcap by 1.08 per cent. Amongst the sectoral indices there were no losers today and the pack of gainers was led by Consumer Durables Sector which was up by 1.82 per cent and was followed by Capital Goods up by 1.19 per cent and the PSU sector which was up by 1.23 per cent. Others like FMCG and IT were also up by 0.97 and 0.88 per cent, respectively.
The gainers on the index are ITC, HDFC bank, BHEL, Maruti, NTPC, ICICI, L&T, ONGC, Infosys, Ranbaxy all up between 1.02 and 1.97 per cent.
However, the losers were quite few on the BSE 30 index: HLL down by 0.48 per cent. Bharti Airtel down by 0.10 per cent and Hindalco down by 0.03 per cent.
