Rahul Mahajan ties nuptial knot with Shweta

Mumbai, Aug 29: Rahul Mahajan, son of former BJP general secretary late Pramod Mahajan, today tied the nuptial knot with airline pilot Shweta Singh at a simple ceremony here.

A galaxy of politicians and well-wishers of Pramod Mahajan, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, senior BJP leaders L K Advani and Venkaiah Naidu, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, were present at the function at Blue Sea Hotel at Worli, South Central Mumbai.

The marriage ceremony took place according to vedic traditions at 1131 hrs.

The late Mahajan was shot at by his younger brother on April 22 and succumbed to the bullet injuries on May 3. Rahul himself got embroiled in a drug abuse controversy along with the personal assistant of the late Mahajan Bibek Biman Maitra. Maitra in early June in New Delhi. Maitra died due to overdose of drug while Rahul was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (Prevention) Act.

A Delhi court yesterday allowed Rahul to go abroad for his honeymoon.

Rahul, a former Jet airways pilot, had also produced a TV serial, which was telecast on Doordarshan. Shweta was his colleague In Jet Airways and still works for the airlines.
