Mumbai, Aug 29: FMCG major Procter&Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 46.56 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006, from Rs 38.36 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, an increase of 21.4 per cent.
Announcing the results today, the company's press release ascribed the increase in the net profit to stronger sales of soaps and personal care products.
Its total revenue for the fourth quarter was lower at Rs 156 crore, as compared to Rs 206 crore a year earlier, but the company pointed out that the figures were not comparable because it had stopped detergent manufacturing business.
Further, the company will invest Rs 56 crore to expand capacity at its plant in Goa and build a new plant in Himachal Pradesh.
