Online lotteries back in Karnataka
Bangalore, Aug 29: Online lotteries have staged a comeback in Karnataka following the High Court order setting aside the state Government's notification, banning online lotteries.
According to industry sources, more than 200 terminals would be set up in the state. Playwin, the lottery and gaming brand of Pan India Network Infravest Pvt Ltd, a part of the Rs 500 crore Essel Group, proposed to stage a comeback in the state.
Commenting on the High Court order, Pan India Network Infravest CEO Melville Patrao said, with the lottery industry going online, the transactions would be totally transparent and on par with Banking or Insurance industry. Online Lottery was more of an aspirational value unlike earlier. The industry also helped in generating revenue for the Government along with creation of job opportunities for the unskilled class.
Playwin would launch six games in the state, covering over 100 terminals, a release here said.
