NASSCOM concerned over delay in cyber crime
Bangalore, Aug 29: The National Association for Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today expressed serious concern over the inordinate delay in conviction rate of cyber crimes and stressed the need for setting up special and fast track courts for rendering speedy justice.
NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik, talking to newspersons here, said there was increasing concern over cyber security and delay caused in convicting those arrested in connection with cyber crimes. The amendments suggested to the IT Act by NASSCOM on tightening up cyber security to protect IPR of companies operating from India was likely to come up before Parliament during the next session.
However, what was worrying NASSCOM most was the enforcement process and abysmally slow conviction rate. There was a need to speed up the judiciary process, he said, adding that awareness had to be created in the judiciary on the issue and necessary legal expertise also need to be built up.
