Israeli troops kill two W Bank gunmen - witnesses

NABLUS, West Bank, Aug 29: Israeli special forces killed two Palestinian gunmen during a clash in the occupied West Bank today, witnesses said.

They identified the militants slain in Balata refugee camp as members of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.

An Israeli military spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

Israel Radio described the force raiding Balata, near the city of Nablus, as paramilitary police with orders to arrest Palestinians involved in an almost 6-year-old revolt. Two Israeli policemen were wounded in the clash, the radio said.
