Hrishikesh Mukherjee to be cremated today

Mumbai, Aug 29: Legendary filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Hrishikesh Mukherjee, who died on Sunday will be cremated at Shivaji Park Electric crematorium today.

Speaking to sources, his son- in -law Pradeep Bhattacharya said, Hrishida's son Pratip Mukherjee who was in the United States has come back. Hrishida's body was brought home at his Carter Road residence in Bandra, here from the Lilavati Hospital morgue at 0930 hrs in the morning. From there he was taken to Linking Road at Hindu Association at 1030 am where it was kept for people to pay their last respects.

All his relatives came to pay their last respects and from the film fraternity those who came are - Jaya Bachchan, Biswajit, Subhash Ghai and Juhi Chawla just to name a few, Mr Bhattacharya said.

''We are leaving now and taking him to the Shivaji Park Electric crematorium where he will be cremated,'' he added.
