CM to host Kisan Panchayat in MP

Bhopal, Aug 29: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will play host to about 1,000 farmers from across Madhya Pradesh attending the unique 'Kisan Panchayat' at his official residence here tomorrow.

In between tea and lunch, the farmers will air their grievances and give suggestions to improve farm output to achieve the target of doubling agriculture production by 2011.

The farmers will also be apprised about advanced methods of farming , storage of produces and crop processing.

On the same day, farmers meetings will be held at the headquarters of all 313 development blocks with the participation of about 100 farmers at each place.

Meanwhile, the Horticulture department has decided to give a gift of high quality seeds of various crops to those farmers attending the Kisan Panchayat, official sources said.

The state government has already decided to give impetus to horticulture farming in a big way by promoting mango, banana, aaonla as also medicinal plants.
