Sensex up by 11 pts in the opening move

Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) The BSE senstive index opened 11 points in the green at 11,583.73 as the buying activity intensified, continuing from where it left on Friday.

The activity is seen mostly in the midcap and the smallcap indices, which were up by 0.70 and 0.53 per cent in the early trade.

Currently the stock market is trading 17.62 points up at 11,589.82.

Amongst the sectoral indices, Consumer Durables was down by 0.11 per cent, HC was down by 0.04 per cent, IT was down by 0.17 per cent and Teck was down by 0.15 per cent. However, the pack of gainers are led by Metals and Oil and Gas, both are up by 0.63 per cent and are followed by PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) sector which is up by 0.53 per cent and the Capital Goods is up by 0.62 per cent.

The major gainers on the BSE 30 sensitive index are - Hindalco, Reliance Energy, Grasim, Maruti Udyog, L&T, Hero Honda, Ranbaxy, Tata Motors, SBI and Reliance Communications all up between 0.53 and 1.53 per cent.

Besides, the losers are Dr Reddy's Lab, HDFC, Cipla, HDFC bank, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, Infosys, Bajaj Auto, ITC and Tata Steel all down between 0.06 to 50.07 per cent.

Crude oil prices in the US market edged higher after a storm in the Caribbean threatened to hit the US Gulf Coast. The Nymex light crude oil for October delivery rising 15 cents, to US Dollar 72.51 a barrel, while the London Brent crude was up seven cents at US 72.72 per barrel.
