Seniors crowned champions, 'A' team lose in finals
New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Geet Sethi led the charge as India rallied with a 6-5 final black ball win against New Zealand to lift the IBSF World Snooker Team Championship seniors' title in San Jose.
However, despite Pankaj Advani's efforts, India 'A' failed to follow their seniors footsteps and went down 3-8 against England in final of the men's event, according to information received here.
In the seniors event yesterday, India and New Zealand were evenly poised at 5-5 but World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi was trailing 1-64 to Dene O'Kane in the last frame. However, Sethi held his nerves and India emerged winners.
A double delight was denied as India 'A' lost the plot failing to capitalise on a start. Former World Snooker Champion Pankaj Advani defeated Michael Rhodes, but England bounced back and David Lilley and David Craggs won the four frames on the trot.
Manan Chandra won the sixth frame to make it 4-2 but Craggs resumed the service by taking the seventh.
England were ruthless in the second session and Rhodes downed Merchant eigth frame but Advani was quick to pull back one against Lilley but India still trailed 3-6.
Craggs and Rhodes gave no chance to Indians and won the next two frames to seal the issue.
