Minister hands over boats to tsunami victims

Kochi, Aug 27 (UNI) Kerala Fisheries Minister S Sarma today handed over mechanised fishing boats to the families hit by the December 26, 2004 tsunami, in Arattupuzha of Alappuzha district, at a function here.

Addressing a gathering, the Minister said the government would provide 65 cents of land for the construction of six houses for the tsunami-affected people at Chellanum in the district.

Ten boats, each costing Rs 2,50,000 fitted with out board engines, would provide livelihood for 100 families and have been donated by the Rotary Club of Cochin Midtown.
