Lakhani to pump in Rs 150 crore in Uttranchal

Hardwar, Aug 27 (UNI) Lakhani India, part of the Lakhani Vardaan Group, today said it will invest Rs 150 crore in the state for its diversification plan within the next three years.

''The company will expand its base and set up plants of detergents and soaps, medical devices, healthcare technologies at Hardwar and other places in the state,'' Lakhani Vardaan Group Managing Director P D Lakhani told reporters here.

Besides, the Rs 25 crore footwear plant of the company became operational at the Integrated Industrial Estate (IIE) here today.

The plant would have the capacity to manufacture 45 lakh pairs of shoes annually. ''The latest automation and high-tech shoe-making technology has been installed at the plant. The footwear range to be produced will include high-end shoes for domestic market as well as footwear for our MNC partners,'' Mr Lakhani said.

After Faridabad and Indore, the Hardwar unit is the third footwear unit of the group which is one of the largest volume producers of footwear in the country.

The plant was inaugurated by the state Chief Minister N D Tiwari in the presence of Yoga Guru Swami Ram Dev.
