Kerala ready for another airport proposed by expatriates
Dubai, Aug 27 (UNI) Kerala has agreed to a proposal by expatriates to build an airport at Edayaranmula in central Kerala under a public limited company that would run it on the lines of the Nedumbaserry international airport near Kochi.
The Friends of Thiruvalla (Fota) organisation, which has taken the lead in the airport project, has joined hands with other NRI groups including Fokana, Mount Zion Group and Fota chapters in Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.
The Mount Zion Group has acquired 400 acres of land at Edayaranmula, about 10 km from Thiruvalla, to build the airport, the organisation's Qatar chapter said in a statement.
Fota (Qatar chapter) has submitted a memorandum to Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, seeking allotment of 50 acres of land that once belonged to the now defunct Pamba Sugar Factory for its development activities.
