IITG alumnis starts company from campus

Guwahati, Aug 27 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati,(IITG) is encouraging its alumnis to become entrepreneurs after two of its students from the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) launched seven of its products from the college campus.

A technology product-based start-up, Yellow Fourier Technologies Pvt Ltd, had been incubated at the Technology Incubation Centre, IITG, a unique project providing infrastructure and intellectual inputs to entrepreneurial ventures initiated by the former students.

The products are primarily targeted at the electronic laboratories for undergraduate and graduate programmes in universities and technical institutes, as well at the research facilities in the small R&D organisations in India and abroad.

The company would have its own manufacturing unit and marketing would also be carried out through its own distribution network.

Real-time communication transceiver systems operating at 10.7 MHz and with data rates of upto 64 kbps, employing indigenous and innovative techniques were among the products released in the first phase.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the company Natasha Sodhi said, ''We have filed for patents for two of our indigenous hardware circuit designs. Our products would bridge the huge gap that exists between industry and the academia and greatly enhance the way practical training in the laboratories is conducted.'' Yellow Fourier Technologies has a strong R&D base and its products exhibit excellent instructional ability, ECE Head of Department, Dr Dandapat, added.

Yellow Fourier is the first of such entrepreneurial achievement.

The company has its Research and Development (R&D) centre inside the campus.

Professor A K Gogoi of the Department of ECE is the mentor of the company.
