Greater Kashmir wins golf tournament

Srinagar, Aug 27 (UNI) Greater Kashmir defeated Kashmir Golf Club (KGC) 28-24 to lift the third Greater Kashmir Golf tournament played here today.

As many as 100 prominent players of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the tournament played at the KGC.

Greater Kashmir, a leading English daily newspaper of the state, hosted the tournament for the third consecutive time.

Last year, the tournament, held at the world famous tourist resort of Gulmarg, was won by Jammu and Kashmir. Chandigarh were declared the runners-up while the team from Delhi came third in the two-day tournament played on a triangular team event basis at the world's highest golf course.

About 84 leading amateur golfers of the country took part in the tournament held in Jammu and Kashmir after more than 20 years.
