Governor S M Krishna condoles the demise of Hrishikesh Mukherjee

Mumbai, Aug 27 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has expressed sorrow on the demise of renowned filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee in Mumbai today.

In his condolence message, Mr Krishna said, ''Hrishikesh Mukherjee was without doubt one of the most accomplished filmmakers and directors of our times. He had an eye for detail and a rare ability to capture intricate human emotions through the medium of cinema.'' Some of the films directed by him are rated among the all-time-greats by filmlovers and critics across the world. The greatness of Hrishikeshji was that he never used shortcuts for success. He has shown the world that good films can be made without portraying violence, crime or vulgarity. His death has deprived us of a gifted director who was a link to the golden era of the Indian film industry. I join the countless admirers of Hrishi-da in paying my deep respects to his memory,'' he added.
