Chopra soars to tied 4th, Atwal tied 67th at Reno-Tahoe Open
Reno, Nevada, Aug 27 (UNI) A flawless eight-under 64 saw Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra soar to the fourth spot whereas Arjun Atwal returned a modest card of one-under 71 to rise one spot to the tied 67th position after the penultimate round of the three million dollar Reno-Tahoe Open here.
Chopra fired six birdies and an eagle to be just five shots behind leaders Bob Estes and Will MacKenzie of America with a three-day total of 14-under 202.
The Swede was in fine form and kept improving throughout to boost his chances of a top-five finish in the event.
Chopra fired two birdies on the fourth and sixth to make the turn at two-under and he kept up the momentum with another birdie on the 10th before firing an eagle on the par-five 11th hole.
He gained shots on the 13th, 15th and 17th to complete his best performance this week.
However, it was another ordinary display by the Orlando-based Atwal and the 10th tee starter dropped a bogey at the very onset before firing two birdies in his front nine to end the day with a three-round total of one-under 214.
At the top, Estes (68) and MacKenzie (68) held a four-shot lead over fellow American John Cook, who fired a 69 in the third round.
