BJP demands Rs 500 crore interim flood relief for Rajasthan
Jaipur, Aug 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Ramdas Agarwal today demanded an interim assistance of Rs 500 crore from the Centre to Rajasthan towards flood relief.
Mr Agarwal while talking to newsmen here said, the flood in the western parts of the state was unprecedented and a large number of people lost their life and property in the flood. He said the state government is providing all possible assistance to the flood victims. He said the Centre should also come forward with immediate assistance.
He asked the Congress to stop ''politicising'' floods and said the Central team which visited the state to assess the damage due to flood behaved like a ''head master''.
Regarding the statement of Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal, asking the state to furnish the deatils of the National Calamity Fund sanctioned earlier he said, ''The accounts can be settled later and what the people now need is relief and rehabilitation''.
He demanded an immediate Central assistance of Rs 500 crore to the state.
