Anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib celebrated
New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) A huge religious procession to mark the 300th anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, to be celebrated next year, reached Gurudwara Majnu Ka Tilla here this afternoon.
Thousands of Sikh devotees received the 'Nagar Kirtan' (religious procession) which also comprised decorated elephants. A large number of school students and youth displaying martial arts participated in the procession.
The rally was also marked by the recital of Gurbani.
The procession which came from Patna and was led by Shiromani Akali Dal Punjab leader Sucha Singh Lengo and was received by Gurgit Singh Virk.
According to SAD Delhi General secretary Atma Singh Lubana, the procession would reach Bahadurgarh this evening on its way to the culmination point -- Takht Damdama Sahib.
The anniversary of Guru Grath is being celebrated not only in India but also in the US, the UK, Canada and other foreign countries, Mr Lubana added.
