Two accused in Timarpur fake encounter case sent to one-day PC

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) A city court today remanded two of the seven Delhi police constables, arrested in connection with the July 31 Timarpur fake encounter case, to one-day police custody.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kawaljeet Singh sent constables Ashok Kumar and Sural Pal, arrested yesterday, to police custody.

The other accused in the case-- head constable Yashpal and constables Pradeep, Satish, Ravinder and Naresh-- were sent to judicial custody till September 8.

Two people, Nazakat (22) and Zulfikar (26), were killed in the alleged fake encounter by the accused in Timarpur. The accused had claimed that two UP-based criminals had been shot dead in the encounter.

The accused were arrested after an inquiry by the crime branch revealed that both victims had been abducted from near a court in Ghaziabad by the north district special staff before they were shot dead.

The inquiry confirmed that the two victims were accused of killing Ashok's brother Digambar in Ghaziabad and that their abduction and killing was an act of revenge on the part of Ashok.
