TDP accuses Congress, TRS of cheating people

Hyderabad, Aug 26 (UNI) Accusing the ruling Congress and its estranged ally Telangana Rahstra Samity(TRS) of cheating the people, the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) today alleged that the Congress was taking advantage of the stalling of state Assembly proceedings by the TRS to avoid a discussion on various 'burning' issues.

The senior TDP leaders K Srihari, R Chandrasekara Reddy, and Ummareddy Venkateswarulu told newspersons after the Party's Politburo meeting chaired by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu that it was the duty of the Government to ensure orderly conduct of the House by persuasive or deterrent action like suspension of members and facilitate discussion on serious issues concerning the people.

The Congress, however, were afraid of itself getting exposed on 'Land scam', Chikungunya 'epidemic' and mishandling of flood and drought situations, and found it convenient to allow the House to get adjourned without conduct of any official business for three consecutive days, they alleged.

Referring to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy releasing a copy of a statement from senior TRS leader A Narendra, consenting to the Congress stand for constitution of Second States' Reorganisation Commission to study the demand for separate Telangana State, they alleged that they would not be surprised, if the TRS compromised with the Congress and agreed for second SRC.

Both the Congress and the TRS were enacting a 'drama' with ulterior political motives, they charged.

The Politburo decided to hold a review of the party's performance in the recent local body elections at the mandal level from August 28 to 31, constituency level from September one to seven and district level from September nine to 15, they added.
