Sikhs angry at ''police lethargy'' in sikh hair cut
Kurukshetra, Aug 26 (UNI) The Sikh bodies including SGPC and SAD, today lashed out at the Kurukshetra police for its ''lethargic and indifferent attitude'' towards the forcible hair cut of Jagbir Singh of Bhor Saiyda village and demanded prompt arrest of the culprits.
The Sikhs of the region were agitated ever since the news broke out that Jagbir Singh, a student of Gita Niketan school, was forcibly taken away by some car-borne people on August 12 and his hair were cut before he was abandoned near Rajound in Jind district.
The boy reportedly reached his relative's house in a nearby village who brought him home.
Since then, father of the victim had been approaching the police to get the culprits arrested but the police registered a criminal case under section 295 A only last evening.
Meanwhile, R S Virk, senior Vice Pesident of the SGPC came here today and met the parents and the victim. He also met S P Kurukshetra along with some agitated local Sikh leaders. The police assured them of earliest possible arrest of the culprits.
The SAD Haryana Senior Vice President Tejender Pal Singh and the Haryana SGPC Youth Wing president Kanwaljit Singh extended support to SGPC leadership in condemning the incident and appealed to the Haryana government to diffuse the situation.
