Shivraj Patil to attend west zone council meeting in Goa
Panaji, Aug 26 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi are slated to attend the west zone council meeting in Goa on September 11.
Goa's chief secretary J P Singh said here yesterday the standing committee members met here today to make preparations for the forthcoming west zone council meeting. The meeting was attended by Maharashtra chief secretary Mr D K Shankaran, Gujarat additional chief secretary Mr George Joseph and other state representatives.
He told mediapersons that the west zone council meeting would be attended by representatives from Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Union Territories of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.
Issues like coastal security, trafficking of women and children, strengthening of the police network, telecom project, drug trafficking, strengthening of micro-level intelligence, right to information, national disaster management, jail reforms, tourism, Judiciary, disposal of hazardous waste among other things were discussed at the meeting, Mr Singh informed.
Next month's west zone council meeting would be held under the chairmanship of Goa's Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, he added.
