Series on, Inzy hearing in September

London, Aug 26 (UNI) Decks were cleared for the scheduled ODI series between England and Pakistan after the ICC decided to postpone the hearing of ball-tampering and disrepute charges faced by Inzamam-ul Haq until next month.

Taking to reporters here, ICC president Percy Sonn yesterday said both the Paksitan board and ECB had given him assurance the series would go ahead as per schedule.

The hearing, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, was deferred due to the unavailablity of Ranjan Madugalle, the International Cricket Council's chief match referee.

The Pakistan skipper was charged by the ICC for ''ball tampering'' and ''bringing the game in to disrepute'' after the tourists forfeited the Oval Test following a penalty for allegedly altering the condition of the ball.

ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed said, ''The hearing, I hope, will now take place in the second half of September.'' He said the case had generated a huge amount of misinformation, speculation and conjecture and rejected the allegations of bias, racism and conspiracy.

Meanwhile a report in the 'Daily Telegraph' suggests that Pakistan are likely to call England cricket team's coach Duncan Fletcher as a witness during Inzy's hearing.
