Retired IAF official remanded to police custody till Sept 9

Pune, Aug 26 (UNI) A local holiday court today remanded a retired Indian Air Force(IAF) official to police custody till September 9 for allegedly raping and cheating a 35-year-old Sri Lankan woman.

Police said that a complaint was lodged by a Sri Lankan national that she was being raped and cheated by Pramod Kumar Sharma(50) since 2004. The woman had arrived in Pune to do a course in banking.

Here she approached the accused, who practiced astrology as she had some personal problems. He called her to his office late in the evening and raped her in 2004.

In her complaint, she alleges that the accused, on the pretext of marrying her, raped her repeatedly at different places and would then threaten to implicate her in a narcotics case.

He also threatened to use his influence and get her tourist visa cancelled if she insisted on marriage, the victim alleges in her complaint to the police, police added.
