Pankaj leads India 'A' to final of the world snooker
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Giving a dazzling display on the green baize, Pankaj Advani orchestrated his team's stunning 6-3 win over favourites Thailand as India 'A' set up a title clash with England in the World Snooker team championship at San Jose, US.
Indian seniors comprising Geet Sethi, Devendra Joshi and BVS Murthy also made it to the finals of their section outplaying Australia 5-2.
In the title clash they will face New Zealand, who beat Ireland 5-2.
According to information received here, the Bangalore-based former World champion scored a a facile win over Kobkit Palajin 57-22, 117-8, 21-22 which included a break of 82.
Intrestingly, Pankaj had also beaten Palajin in the 2004 world championship final.
Pankaj took on Palajin, after Manan Chandra won his match against Atthasit Mahitthi but Yasin Merchant went down to Phaithoon Phonbun.
In the quarter-finals, India 'A' had accounted for Australia 5-2 while India 'B' -- Rafath Habib, Siddhartha Rao and Aditya Mehta -- lost to Hong Kong 3-5.
In the other best of nine-frame semi-final, England thrashed Hong Kong 6-1.
