Judicial Commission gives clean chit on Amarnath ice lingam
Jammu, Aug 26 (UNI) The one-member Judicial Commission probing the controversy of man-made ice Shiv Lingam at the holy Amarnath cave shrine today gave a clean chit to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).
''No official of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board was found involved in the formation of an artificial lingam and no tampering with the natural shivlingam was established,'' Justice(retd) K K Gupta said in his 90-page report submitted to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha this morning.
When the arrangements for this year's yatra were being made the Board officials came to know that the natural process of the formation of the lingam was not going well till May 16.
However, on May 19 an SASB team saw water trickling from the roof of the holy cave which resulted in the formation of the holy Shiv Lingam in the first week of June, the report said.
The report also suggested measures to improve facilities for pilgrims and prolonging the life of the holy lingam.
