Japan's Miyazato collects rare pair of aces in Reno
LOS ANGELES, Aug 25 (Reuters) Japan's Yusaku Miyazato surged up the leaderboard with an astonishing two aces in six holes in the Reno-Tahoe Open second round in Reno, Nevada today.
It is believed to be the first time in PGA Tour history that a player has achieved two holes-in-one in the same round, Tour officials said.
Miyazato used a four-iron on the 230-yard seventh hole and a seven-iron on the 173-yard 12th to get to five under for the tournament.
He then birdied the par-four 15th to close to within nine strokes of leader Bob Estes.
American Estes, whose last PGA Tour victory came at the 2002 Kemper Open, fired a seven-under-par 65 to hold the clubhouse lead at 15-under 129.
Compatriot Joe Durant was alone in second place at eight under after returning a second successive 68 at Montreux Golf and Country Club.
American Will MacKenzie, one stroke clear at the start of the day after opening with a 63, was at 14 under overall with two holes to play.
