Indian travel agent accused of swindleng 20 people
Dubai, Aug 26 (UNI) Twenty people, alleged victims of a visa scam locked up their Indian agent demanding repayment of the money which they had paid to him for securing employment visas.
According to them, the accused named Rajan, had charged them 10,000 dirham to 12,000 dirham for providing jobs in UAE.
Rajan, used different agents to seek out job seekers and brought them here on visit visas, said a victim. When they found out where Rajan was staying, they locked him up in his room yesterday, Khaleej Times reported.
Indian Consulate officials, who intervened to resolve the issue said that after inquiry the agent had swindled them. ''We will confiscate the passport of the accused and hand him over to the police,'' an official said.
