India rules out complaining over national anthem goof-up

Colombo, Aug 26 (UNI) India today decided not to make any official complaint on the national anthem goof-up during their football match against Sri Lanka even as their Nepalese counterparts said they would file an official representation regarding a similar incident.

''That was a technical snag and it may happen anywhere. We are not making a big issue out of it and not filing any complaint,'' deputy Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent Kamalesh Chatterjee told UNI tonight.

In the semifinal match against Sri Lanka, the Indian national anthem could not be played and the footballers were clearly not amused. And it turned out to be a bad omen as well as India first wasted a penalty shot and then went on to lose the match on sudden death despite leading 1-0 at extra time.

Nepalese Football Association, meanwhile, is fuming after the organisers played the older national anthem in their match against Pakistan, instead of the new one, okayed by their National Sports Council.
