Copper cheaper on poor industrial demand
Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) Copper became cheaper on poor industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said today.
In the ferrous segment, copper heavy and copper utensils declined by Rs 200 and Rs 300 per quintal, respectively, on sustained heavy selling pressure.
In the non-ferrous category, copper wire bar eased by Rs 200 per quintal on increase offers by stockists. But zinc slab and lead ingots rose by Rs 100 each per quintal on lesser stock supply.
Tin slab went up by Rs five per kg on improved demand.
Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 37,300, Copper utensils - Rs 32,200, Brass utensils - Rs 22,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 25,700 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 10,900.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,100, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,000, Zinc slab - Rs 19,200, Lead ingots - Rs 6,500, Tin slab - Rs 510 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,785 (per kg).
