BJP deserter Babulal gets JVM(D) to fight parent body
Ranchi, Aug 26 (UNI) The much-awaited nomenclature of BJP deserter Babulal Marandi's new platform to fight his parent organisation has been finalised.
Promising a Gandhian philosophy, the old Jharkhand Vikash Morcha was rechristened JVM (Democratic), a decision taken last night after a marathon meeting of the central committee held under the chairmanship of Mr Marandi, party sources said today.
The new outfit, aimed at catering to demands of regional aspirations, would not have too many officals except a president and central committe members, party principal general secretary Stephen Marandi said.
He said it was done so as to avoid clashes of interest among party workers who might fall victim to posts only. The concept, he said, had been taken as an experiment and might undergo changes if the situation arose.
The district level committee would comprise president besides, 31 members while the block level units would have 21 members.
Fifty per cent of the seats in the committee would be reserved for scheduled castes, women, minorities and most backward classes.
Rooting out main causes of naxalism, corruption and criminalisation of politics would be the main agenda, party sources said.
