Advani supports Shankaracharya Swarupanand's Parikrama in Ayodhya
Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani today declared his support for the 'Parikrama' by Dwaraka and Jyotishpeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swarupanad as part of the revival of the Ram Temple movement on December 2 at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
Mr Advani was here for felicitating the Shankaracharya on his 83rd birth day. The Shankarachaya, during his stay here on the 'Chaturmas', has made his intention of reviving the Ram Temple movement clear and has announced he would hold the 'parikrama' at the Ram Janmabhumi in Ayodhya.
The meeting between the two assumes importance as the Shankaracharya was critical of the movement spearheaded by the Sangh Parivar in the past.
Mr Advani, who came alongwith Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the afternoon, was closetted with the Shankaracharya for about half-an-hour. Emerging from the meeting, the Shankaracharya said he would conduct the 'parikkrama' on December 2 as announced earlier.
Later talking to newspersons, Mr Advani said the BJP would extend full support to the initiatve taken by the Shakaracharya. He said ''I will try to be presonally present in Ayodhya on December 2.'' The BJP leader said the Shankaracharya has expressed concern over the increasing influence of the CPI(ML) in Nepal and called the land mass from Pashupatinath to Tirupati, which the Maoists plan for making a 'red corridor', a matter of concern to Indians.
