Yediyurappa takes BJP Karnataka ministers to Vajpayee and Rajnath
New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) The BJP ministers from Karnataka led by Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today called on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to apprise him the political situation in the state and asserted that there was absolutely no threat to the Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress coalition government.
Mr Yediyurappa who led the 15-member team told newspersons after the meeting that things for the government had improved after suspended BJP legislator Janardhana Reddy's inability to produce documentary evidence to prove his allegations.
''The coalition will complete its 40 month tenure and the party is absolutely united,'' the Deputy Chief Minister said after they called on Mr Vajpayee.
They will be meeting BJP President Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj later today and Leader of Opposition L K Advani tomorrow.
The sudden meetings have raised eyebrows in the political circles especially after the suspended MLC released tapes to substantiate his allegations. But the Deputy Chief Minister dismissed the suggestions as 'incorrect', that the leaders were meeting to demand action against deviant BJP leaders like former Union Minister Basavaraj Patil Ethnal or dismissal of Mr Reddy from the Cabinet.
He also denied that these meetings had anything to do with a possible reshuffle of the portfolios in the light of recent review of the performance of the BJP ministers by senior leaders like M Venkaiah Naidu.
He, however, contended that the ministers had apprised the BJP leaders about the drought and flood conditions in the state, but was unable to justify the delegation calling their central leaders after the Parliament session had ended.
State Horticulture Minister Sashikant Naik was the lone minister absent in the meeting and it was explained that he would join the delegation tomorrow.
