Total foreign reserves move up by $273 m to USD 165.367 bn

Mumbai, Aug 25 (UNI) According to the weekly statistical report presented by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) the total foreign reserves as on August 18, went up by US dollar 273 million to USD 165.367 billion as compared to 165.094 billion last week.

The foreign currency assets too, as on Aug 18, increased by USD 273 million to USD 158.042 billion as compared to USD 157.769 billion last week.

Besides maintaining the best international practice, India's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as on August 18 stayed put at the previous week's figure of USD 76.7 billion.

As on August 11 loans provided to the state governments stood at Rs 162 crore.

Total bank credit has not been provided for this week by RBI, however, as on August four, the credit stood at Rs 15,61,418 crore.

Out of this, food credit was at Rs 36,288 crore and the non-food credit was at Rs 15,25,130 crore.

Besides, the outstandings that accrued out of the accommodation provided by the scheduled commercial banks to commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment shares/debentures and bonds as on August four was Rs 58,583 crore. This figure is derived after deducting the March 31 figure of Rs 15,45,851 crore from the August four figure of Rs 16,04,434 crore.
