Sport grounds to be developed in 381 villages
Bhopal, Aug 25 (UNI) In order to promote sporting talent in rural areas, the Madhya Pradesh Government is developing sport grounds in 381 villages by spending over Rs one crore.
The villages include 50 grounds in Chambal division followed by Gwalior (24), Ujjain (57), Indore (78), Bhopal (30), Hoshangabad (11), Sagar (48), Jabalpur (44), and Rewa (39).
Besides, 285 coaches were being appointed on contract basis to impart training to players.
Aimed at providing opportunities for regular practice to players and enable them improve their talent, the sport grounds were coming up in villages having 5,000-14,000 population.
So far, sport grounds had been developed in 210 villages at an expenditure of Rs 63 lakh with about Rs 30,000 being spent on each of them.
Sport grounds in remaining 171 villages would be prepared by March 2007. For this, Rs 42.75 lakh had been earmarked as per Rs 25,000 for developing each sport ground.
So far, 98 sport coaches, including 46 lady coaches, had been appointed on contract basis.
