Singapore Infrastructure Mission holds meeting with FAPCCI

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) A high-level Singapore Infrastructure Mission led by Singapore's Minister of State for Education and Manpower Gan Kim Yong today had a meeting with the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) and state government officials here.

The team is on a tour to explore Public Private Partnership, Township Development, setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZ), investing in SEZ and student exchange programmes at school-level.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the meeting, Mr Gan said the Singapore Government was just a facilitator and it was for the Singapore private industries and developers to decide where to invest.

The team comprising real estate developers, architects, fund managers, construction material suppliers, hospitality-related developers and educationists would study the scenario here and take appropriate decision, he added.

Mr Gan said apart from looking at other centres in India, the private companies were interested in multi-product SEZs.

''Already 12 Singapore schools have tied-up with Indian schools for student exchange programme. Now we are looking for more student exchange programmes,'' he added.

Earlier, Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited Vice-Chairman and Managing Director L V Subramanyam made a power point presentation about the government projects like Outer Ring Road and Green Field airport projects.

He explained that the state was trying to tap the abundant natural gas available in the state.

Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited Managing Director and Vice-Chairman B P Acharya briefed on the opportunities in infrastructure sector in the state.

He said the state would soon set up trade towers, IT Parks at Manikonda, Raidurgam and SEZ in Nanakramguda.
