Jamshedpur, Aug 25 (UNI)A group of Sikhs, led by the president of Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Shailendra Singh today gheraoed the Ulidih police station here to protest the cutting of hair of a Sikh youth allegedly in the police lock-up.
Though police had admitted that there was evidence of cutting of hair but denied that any such incident took place in the police lock-up.
Police said the youth Gurmukh Singh Mukhey, who was arrested along with three others last night in an extortion case, was falsely implicating the police to divert the case by using communal sentiment.
The accused, who had many criminal records including murder, was later sent to jail, police said.
Meanwhile, a Sikh delegation, led by Mr Singh, met the East Singhbhum superintendent of police Ashish Batra, who had ordered an inquiry into the incident.
