Opp stages walkout on the first day of Monsoon session
Agartala, Aug 25 (UNI) The entire opposition led by Congress staged a walkout on the first day of the two-day Monsoon session of the Tripura Assembly.
The Opposition has been demanding the extension of the Monsoon session of the state assembly at least for a week. When they placed the same demand today in front of the house, the speaker Mr Ramendra Chandra Debnath tried to pacify them by saying that the house has no business so there is no point in extending the time limit of the monsoon session.
Dissatisfied with the speaker's remarks, the opposition led by the Congress staged a walkout for the entire day in the second session soon after the house reassembled. The house was adjourned by the speaker in the first session after payiung tribute to ABA Gani Khan Chaudhury, Pramod Mahajan and Ustad Bismillah Khan.
Speaking to media after the walkout, leaders of the Opposition alleged that important matters related to twenty nine departments of the state Government cannot be dealt with. ''Is it possible for the Ministers to answer all the queries related to their respective departments,'' questioned an agitated Congress leader.
When asked whether they will sit in the house on the second and final day of the Monsoon session, the opposition leaders said that it will be decided on that particular day (Aug 28) itself.
