New Kamal film runs into trouble again
Chennai, Aug 25 (UNI) Call it ill-luck or bad omen, just as super actor Kamal Hassan was eagerly awaiting the release of his latest action flick ''Vettayadu Vilayadu'', shot in the US, it appears that it may have to be put off again.
The sudden turn of events against the release of the much-awaited film, in which Kamal plays a policeman, cropped up when the actor lodged a complaint with ''Nadigar Sangam'' (Artistes Association) that a cheque for Rs 70 lakh, which the producer of the film presented to him, bounced. Kamal is waiting for a box office hit after the 'flop' of his last venture '' Mumbai Express'' last year.
The matter was sorted out after President of the Association, Sarat Kumar, intervened. Kamal, who was present during the meeting with the producer, Manickam Narayanan, agreed to accept another cheque for the same amount today, according to Association sources.
''Vettayadu Vilayadu'' directed by Gautham, maker of hit films like ''Kakka Kakka'', ran into trouble from the time it was launched with original producer Kaja Mohiddeen after he attempted suicide when he went bankrupt. The new producer Manickam Narayanan also had problems regarding the ownership of the film.
The film was finally slated for release today when the new controversy over payment cropped up.
But, some other sources related with the film are confident that it will be released as scheduled.
