Mann seeks apology from Rajasthan CM over haircut incident

Jalandhar, Aug 25 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president and former MP Simranjit Singh Mann today demanded an apology from Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for the incident involving the forcble haircut of a Sikh student in Jaipur.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Mann said that the mere filing of FIR and the arrest of the accused was not enough in this case which had hurt sentiments of the Sikhs and the chief minister should tender an apology to the community for the same.

He also criticiced BJP MP former cricketer Najot Singh Sidhu for playing gimmicks over this sensitive issue.

Meanwhile, the activists of Akali Dal (Amritsar), Bahujan Samaj Morcha and Dal Khalsa today held a dharna outside the district collectorate office here in protest against the alleged police brutality and lathicharge during the demonstration here on Wednesday in protest against the Jaipur incident.

The Akali Dal (Amritsar) activists led by Mr Mann staged a dharna at the collectorate office and later submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding immediate action against the guilty police officers and withdrawal of fake cases filed by the police against the party workers.
