Majority of Keralites support Cola ban: report

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) An overwhelming majority of Keralites support the state government ban on the manufacture and sale of Coca-Cola and Pepsi, a survey report said today.

People gave the government 8.1 marks out of 10 for banning the soft drinks, a survey conducted by market research agency A C Neilson on behalf of the daily Malayala Manorama and Manorama news channel found.

However, the popularity of Chief Minister V S Achutanandan fell from 54 to 34 per cent in the first 100 days of his ministry, the Malayala Manorama said in a statement.

As against 7.8 out of 10 for his popularity at the time of swearing-in, the Chief Minister secured only 6.6 marks this time. He got 5.5 marks for his government's overall performance and cohesion in the ministry.

People gave him 6.1 marks for handling the professional college admission issue, 5.6 for resolving the agricultural crisis, 5.5 for handling of sexual harassment cases and 5.2 for curbing police atrocities and control of goondas, the statement added.
