Kalam to vist Madras HC Mediation Centre on Sep 4: CJ

Chennai, Aug 25 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will visit the Mediation Centre on Madras High Court premises on its first anniversary on September four.

Informing this to newsmen in his Chamber, Chief Justice A P Shah said the presidential visit was the second in 44 years.

India's first President, Dr S Radhakrishnan, visited the High Court way back in 1962.

Besides increase in the number of judges, steps like establishment of Mediation Centres and Lok Adalats would reduce the backlog of cases in courts.

The Mediation Centre, which got off during the tenure of Chief Justice Markandey Katju, was catching on well.

Labour matters pending in Coimbatore were settled fully. In Tiruppur, employees and employer wanted to solve their disputes through mediation, he added.

After the President's visit, mediation centres would be established in ten centres in the state. The centre will be shortly launching a new movement to rescue women forced into flesh trade, Mr Justice Shah said UNI XR GM RL HT1825
