Judicious, equitable distribution of water is need of the hour: So
New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today said the problems faced by India and other developing countries was not scarcity but was about judicious use and equitable distribution of the available resources.
Speaking on the concluding day of the Plenary session of the 16th Water Week at Stockholm, Prof Soz said India was formulating appropriate measures to develop efficient management order.
He said about 70 per cent of the Indian population depended on agriculture and water was a crucial factor. Adoption of newest technologies in macro and micro level for ensuring optimum and efficient use was the need of the hour, he added.
During the World Water Week, Prof Asit K Biswas, a Canadian citizen of the Indian origin and an alumni of IIT Kharagpur was conferred a World Water Prize for his services in the field, a report here said.
