HAU's Dr Dhillon gets ICAR's Nehru award for research

Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) Dr Mukesh Kumar Dhillon of CCS Haryana Agricultural University has been awarded the prestigious Jawahar Lal Nehru Award of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for his outstanding post-graduate research work.

Dr Dhillon submitted his thesis last year for the award of PhD degree in Entomology which has been acknowledged as the best research work by the ICAR.

He worked on ''Effects of cytoplasmic male-sterility on the expression of resistance to sorghum shoot fly, Altherigonaq soccata (Rondani) ''under the guidance of Prof. J.S. Naresh and Prof Ram Singh of Department of Entomology, HAU and Dr H C Sharma, Principal Scientist, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad.

His six research papers based on this research work have also been published in different international journals.

Presently, Dr Dhillon is visiting scientist at ICRISAT, Hyderabad.
