FM's convocation address at law school NLSIU
Bangalore, Aug 25: Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram will deliver the 14th convocation address of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) here on August 27.
Briefing newsmen here NLSIU Registrar V Vijayakumar said Supreme Court Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal, who is also the Chancellor of the University, would confer the degrees to the graduating students.
He said 74 students would be receiving the degree while 40 students would be receiving the Master of Law (LL.M) degree. The NLSIU would be awarding as many as 220 distance education degrees and diplomas and 28 gold medals during the year.
On placement of the students, he said the Recruitment Co-ordination Committee had again managed to place 100 per cent of its graduates with top practising lawyers, commercial law firms, accounts houses and business groups in the country. Significantly, a sizeable portion of the class was opting to join the bar under the guidance of senior lawyers and advocates, he pointed out.
Leading companies such as McKinsey, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Wipro and ICICI Bank were among others who figured in the recruitment process, he pointed out.
