Demolition drive: Removal of small temple triggers tension
Hubli, Aug 25 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time when officials of the Hubli-Dharwad City Municipal Corporation officials removed a small temple while demolishing shops on footpath at Keshvapur area here today.
The trouble started when the officials removed the temple while demolishing a controversial fence in the area.
Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested against the demolition and demanded reconstruction of the temple.
They withdrew their protest after Municipal Commissioner P Manivannan assured that the temple would be reconstructed.
Heavy police bandobust was made in the area following the demolition drive.
