BJP condemns ill-treatment of Indians by Dutch authorities
New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) Strongly condemning the detention of 12 Indians onboard the Mumbai-bound Northwest Airlines plane from Amsterdam by the Dutch authorities, the BJP today said western countries should not treat every cap-wearing, bearded person as a ''product of Osama bin Laden's factory.'' Reacting to the incident, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said while one should be firm in dealing with terror, suspecting innocent people would only encourage the people with nefarious designs intending to vitiate peace and harmony. ''The United States and European countries seem to see every person with a cap and a beard as a suspect,'' he said, adding it was ''not a healthy trend.'' Mr Naqvi, a Rajya Sabha MP, urged the Government to lodge strong protests with the Dutch authorities for ill-treating and handcuffing the dozen.
''We are totally in favour of crushing terror with iron hand but by ill-treating and isolating innocents, you are not helping the cause of fighting terrorism,'' he reiterated.
