VTU Vice Chancellor honoured

Belgaum, Aug 24 (UNI) Visvesvaraya Technical University (VTU) Vice Chancellor K Balaveer Reddy has been conferred the honour of ''Fellow of the World Academy of Productivity Science,'' a global body of esteemed honourees who have made significant contributions to the world through their promotion of productivity.

A VTU release here said the selection was announced by World Academy of Productivity Science, Canada, President Thomas C Tuttle on August 15.

As a new Fellow, Prof Reddy had joined a distinguished group of people who have committed significant portion of their lives to helping raise the living standards of people across the globe through productivity enhancement and would have the obligation to continue this commitment to his work.

Prof Reddy was gifted with an outstanding vision to set off a new wave of change in the field of the country's technical education system.

He was a recipient of several prestigious awards, including honorary fellowship of Institution of Production Engineers (2006), Indian Society for Technical Education (2003), Aryabhatta Award (2002), Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award (1999), International Suvarna Parishara Rathna (1998), Sir M Visvesvaraya Technical Award and Best Teacher Award (1994-95).

Companies such as IBM India Ltd, INTEL Asia Electronics Inc, Microsoft, Ingersoll-Rand India Ltd, United Telecom Ltd, Indian Space Research Organisation, Sun Microsystem, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Environment and Management, Indian Semiconductor Association and Honeywell Technologies Pvt Ltd., Bangalore, had joined hands with VTU to carry out programmes in the areas of faculty and curriculum development, technology exchange and various other challenging programmes, the release added.
