UP to provide diploma to Army paramedics

Lucknow, Aug 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh has perhaps become the first state in the country to provide diploma to Army paramedics working at various army medical facilities.

The diploma would help the paramedics get job opportunities post-retirement.

Talking to reporters here, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services Vice Admiral V K Singh said UP had agreed to provide diploma to paramedical staff, which gets in house training in army medical facilities.

''It was noticed the in-house training was not recognised outside the forces' set up. Therefore, it was decided to provide them with a diploma by a recognised government institution,'' he said.

Till now, jawans used to get two yrs of in-house training.

An official of AMC Centre and School here later said UP would shortly start providing paramedics with a diploma. ''The process is on, the diplomas would be provided very soon.

The AFMS may request other states to provide similar diplomas to paramedics working at military facilities in their respective regions.
